Then the Detroit Lions should be in good company. The Lions have completed the “perfect” season. They have gone 0-16 and became the first team in the history of the NFL to lose all 16 regular season games. Although, they are not alone in going winless during the regular season because the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers did the that as well, but it was only a 14 game season then.
However, the Lions are even bigger losers because at least Tampa Bay was in their first season in the NFL. Whereas the Lions have been playing since 1930 in the NFL, that is 78 years. Not too mention the fact that, I believe, the Lions have done something that will never be duplicated by another NFL team and for the past . They went undefeated in the pre-season, which no other team did this year, and then they lost every game in the regular season. I don’t see another team being able to do that.
What is the problem? Is it that the coach? Is it the GM? Is it the players? Are they cursed? I would say cursed but only because we are cursed to have William Clay Ford, Sr. as the owner and he is the sole problem with this team. Look at the numbers he has produced since he took over sole ownership of the team in 1964. In 684 games as owner he has amassed a whopping 281-390-13 record with a 41% winning percentage. He has had 13 winning seasons coming in 1964, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1980, 1983, 1991*, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, and 2000. That is only 8 in my lifetime! And only 4 seasons .500 or better coming in 1974, 1975, 1981, and 1999. He has had 9 playoff appearances with only 1 win, which came in 1991.
That is absolutely pathetic! The only thing that will help the Lions to improve is for the William Clay Ford, Sr. to sell the team. I do not believe that the Lions will be any good as long a person with the last name of Ford owns the team. So please don’t pass it onto your son. Just sell the team, Mr. Ford. As a Lions fan I beg you to do this. Look at your record and tell me if you believe that you are successful enough to be retained as owner.
And I beg of every Lions fan out there to stop buying their product until the improve. Just because they hire some great coach or GM, or draft some young stud(s) doesn’t mean they have improved. Don’t keep falling into the same trap and give this idiot owner of ours anymore money. Stay away from their product. Make him lose so much money that he is forced to sell the team or fold the team, so we can get a new expansion franchise. The only sign that the Lions have improved is that William Clay Ford, Sr. has sold the team. I beg of you to take a stand and demand change.
